Matthew Freyer is an Award-Winning Visual Artist, specializing in dark artistry for the Halloween, Horror and Entertainment industries. His work has been featured in all forms of media, from magazines and films to clothing and skateboards – a testament to his wide-ranging creativity and interests. Matthew embraces his unique style, which may not fit the social norm, and presents it in a way that earns as much recognition as mainstream fine artists.
Born in 1976 in Baltimore, MD, Matthew began his artistic journey very young, drawing and creating with anything he could get his hands on. He spent his youth on a skateboard, which took him to new places, introducing him to new forms of art. Matthew never found inspiration in art museums; instead he was captivated by skateboard graphics, graffiti and street art, album covers, horror films and urban decay.
Matthew utilizes elements of photography, freehand drawing, and digital design to produce artwork that is both emotionally haunting and commercially viable. The creative process is what drives Matthew – spending hours conceiving and arranging elements to end up with something where there once was nothing. The most satisfying part of his work is being able to talk with an individual, understand their vision, and bring that vision to life beyond all expectations.
When taking a break from creating art, Matthew can be found rolling on his skateboard, playing guitar or watching Fuel TV.
